Pray for Oregon Leaders

Oregon Mountains

 For nothing restrains the Lord from saving by many or by few. I Samuel 14:6

 It takes me awhile to write a blog post, especially if it involves Oregon history. It’s not the writing – it’s the research. Well, ok, it’s the rabbit trails I get lured into. Fascinating stuff, Oregon history.

 

However, while I research the next county we want to explore, the Oregon legislature is scheduled to begin the 2021 session on January 19th, and it just seems to me like maybe they could use some prayer covering. 

 

Currently the Oregon legislature has a supermajority of one party, and the covid-19 restrictions prevent the public from watching the sessions in person or testifying. Information is available online and sessions can be viewed online. 


Matthew 16:19 says, And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

·     Bind any and all forces of evil off the capital building and the legislature. 

·   Pray and declare our state free of any agreement with evil or darkness; cancel any plan of the enemy to delude, ensnare or divide the people of Oregon.

·   Pray a hedge of protection around the capital building and that God will continue to bless and prosper Oregon while He exposes any evil or corruption.


The Oregon legislature consists of 30 elected senators and 60 elected representatives.

Get With The Plan

In looking at some counties, particularly those with which I have little personal experience or knowledge, I am sometimes at a loss to suggest a prayer focus. What is really going on behind the scenes? Most importantly, what are the spiritual roots of poverty, or corruption or a high crime rate in certain areas?   While it is always good to pray general prayers, asking the Lord to bless a certain city, to reveal truth, to encourage honest, faithful folks and prosper those who are seeking to earn a living for their families, sometimes we have to dig deeper, not just in research but in prayer.  This is where we hone our skill in hearing God’s directions, and following His plan. Isaiah 35:1 Umatilla County - home to Hermiston watermelons, the Pendleton Roundup, and the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation. The three-member Board of Commissioners for Umatilla County comprises Dan Dorran , George Murdock , and John Shafer . The Umatilla County Sheriff is Terry Rowan who oversees a county of over 3,000 square miles and a population of 77,000. The county seat is Pendleton while the largest town is Hermiston.
