St. John's Bridge, Cathedral Park, Portland, OR Oh, worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness! Tremble before Him, all the earth.  Psalm 96:9 If you look at election maps of Oregon, it becomes clear that, county-by-county, the state votes conservative (red) except for a clutch of counties around Portland and another group by Eugene. A huge part of Oregon’s population is congregated in these areas. Because of that we are devoting a few blog posts to those “blue” areas, focusing prayer on neighborhoods in the more populated areas of the state. 2022 governor's race Portland covers potions of three counties: Multnomah, Washington, and Clackamas. Portland itself is divided into six “quadrants.” (A quadrant means “four,” actually, but that is part of Portland’s charm.) Burnside street divides the city north and south, while the Willamette River divides it east and west. The quadrant called “North Portland” is also called The Peninsula as it is the point of land where the Columbia

First house in Portland. Naito Pkway and Washington St. Election Day is over, but of course the votes are still being counted and many races in Oregon are too close to call. Mixed feelings at some of the outcomes - Am hopeful you will join me in a renewed commitment to pray for our state, to be diligent to hear from the Lord on how to pray and to remember it is God who … changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; ….Daniel 2:21   Multnomah County – the most populous in the state, with the smallest geographical area. Much prayer is going up for the governor’s race, and other important positions, including new representatives from the new district created out of the 2020 census. This is a very important election, both for Oregon and for the country. Multnomah County was created in 1854 out of the eastern portion of Washington County and the northern edge of Clackamas County. Currently, it has the largest population of any county in the state at 815,428 and is the smallest in area with 465 square miles. It lies along the southern edge of the Columbia River. The county seat is Portland, the largest urban area in the state. While each of our 36 counties is unique and important to Oregon, one tends to want to double-down on the prayers for Multnomah due to the high population and the power and influence it has over the rest of the state.
