Praying for Those in Authority: Lincoln County

Image
Toledo Church, Lincoln County, OR For evildoers will be cut off; but those wait on the Lord, they shall inherit the land. Psalms 37:9 Lincoln County, named after President Lincoln, is just south of Tillamook County. Its long western edge paralleling the Pacific Ocean, it stretches from Lincoln City in the north to Yachats in the south. Newport, about mid-way, is a popular tourist destination, and is the county seat. Lincoln County is the Central Coast region of Oregon. The economy is supported by tourism, fishing, and timber. A few years ago, I was vacationing in Newport and saw a large multi-storied structure high on a hill. It was in the process of being renovated, but part of it was open as the Pacific Maritime Heritage Center. We were able to tour the open sections. A Deeper Look: Lincoln County

Near Yachats, Lincoln County, OR He grants peace to your borders and satisfies you with the finest of wheat . Psalms 147:14NIV At one time Lincoln County was mostly the Siletz Indian Reservation. It was created from western sections of Benton and Polk Counties, but later than Tillamook - not until 1893. Named after Abraham Lincoln, the county seat for many years was Toledo. In 1954, however, it lost the election to Newport which has been the county seat since.   Both Newport and Lincoln City are popular places to vacation, with the Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport, and museums, shopping and seafood in both towns. While my coast trips as a child centered around Tillamook and Pacific City, as an adult I have gravitated more toward Lincoln City and Newport. We have often visited there either on family trips or with friends.   In 2017 my daughter and I went to Lincoln City and on one of our excursions visited Toledo, just a few miles a...
